I found the book to be entertaining and well written however I do have an issue with animal cruelty. I thought the book was well written, has a good plot but for me something was missing, maybe it was the ghost but it just make me a little uneasy. I felt the story was a little slow and it did not keep my interest. I found my mind wondering at times and was hard to get back into the story. I do feel if I had read the first of the series I might not have been so lost. I felt at times this story was a little too much, a little over the top.I do feel the author is a wonderful author I just did not care for this story. I am sure others will enjoy and love it but for me it just did not do it.

I waited a long time to buy this book, waiting for the price to go down. It never did so I broke down and bought it and it didn't disappoint. I love, love, love the town of Last Chance, South Carolina!! I wish it were real cuz I would definitely visit or try to live there lol and I would stay at that Inn. I loved Jenny and Gabes story. He was such a tortured soul and she saved him D
I have read all the books in this series and I think this one might have been my favorite of them all.
The ending - although a bit sad, I personally liked. I appreciate that she did not have the poor dog running around in a darn 2 wheel concoction of some sort and that in the end the characters common sense prevailed rather than selfish nature.
I'm surprised to see so many people complaining about an ending....I liked that they did not just get together, kiss, and live happily every after in 1 page.
Warning/Spoiler pet dog is beaten so badly he dies.
Small town series that can be read as stand alones. This romance mystery is interesting but not enjoyable or snarky. If you like the series you will want to read this. I advise having a fun, light read next in line. If you have never read the series, this is not the one to start with. Several plot twists, the viciousness of religious intolerance and stupid townsfolk lying to protest.
I will re-read this story and always look forward to more works by this author.
This was not what I was expecting. I had never read a book by Hope Ramsay and she lost me on this one when she started writing about a ghost in the Inn. I had hoped for a realistic story about someone owning an Inn. I thought the story was weak and there wasn't enough going on to really interest me but since I had bought the book I read the whole thing. I'm sure there are lots of readers who will enjoy this but I'm not one of them.
This story was about love, past mysteries resolved, and a present day threat. The characters were enjoyable and it was fun to go back to this little town of Last Chance. I think the only thing I don't think is top-notch is the predictions of romance which is a theme in the series. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the heroine was trying to live out a dream that she had of running a bed-and-breakfast which was the author's childhood home.
This was an ode to a few of my least favorite classics of all time. I rarely enjoy rewriting classics, after all there is a reason they are the classics. If I hadn’t wanted so much to see a happy ending for Jenny I would not have finished this book.
W whatever you do, wherever you go, the truth follows. Especially in small town south, where folks know your business and don't mind telling you what they think. Read Inn at Last Chance if you dare and relish in life in the south.
Inn at Last Chance is by Hope Rams. It is a romantic suspense.
Jenny Carpenter has put her money and her hard work into redoing The Jonquil House into a bed and breakfast. Now if the weather would clear up, she might have some furniture. They can’t get to Last Chance until the ice melts. The sewing group can’t get out to help her sew curtains either. It was a good thing she purchased a new mattress for the old iron bed left in the downstairs bedroom so at least she will have a place to sleep. She can start a fire in the fireplace and read her book for the Book Club. As she starts to head to the bedroom, a pounding starts on the door. Who in the world could it be on such a nasty night?
Gabriel Raintree pounds on the door until Jenny opens it. He demands a place to stay for three months. He doesn’t want to take no for an answer but is forced to at least for tonight. He comes back the next morning and after he turns his ankle, he manages to convince her to let him stay even though she isn’t open. What has she done?
Gabe is a writer who writes books about ghosts. What he finds here at The Jonquil House is a ghost. He used to live in the house with his Grandfather and his brother until Luke was accidently shot and died. He can’t remember exactly what happened but he knows Zeph Gibbs has accidently shot Luke, or did he?
Someone is causing problems for Jenny. The chicken she is cutting takes off and hits the minister in his lap, the china cabinet falls over almost hitting Gabe and breaking all her dishes, a dead chicken ends up on her cabinet, and the house just won’t heat up. What is going on? Can she hold on until they find out? Can she ignore the attraction she feels for Gabe?
I found the book to be entertaining and well written however I do have an issue with animal cruelty. I thought the book was well written, has a good plot but for me something was missing, maybe it was the ghost but it just make me a little uneasy.
