Not happy with the quality of the book cover- in library book plastic
I love this book and wish it wasn't out of print.
The words are carefully chosen to give a local flavor as well as tell a story. The artwork gives expression and character to the various participants in the story. For extra fun, look for this book read by Dixie Carter on an old Reading Rainbow episode. This book reminds me another favorite illustrated by Stepehen Gammell- The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant.
fun book, we used it for Kentucky on our "read around America". There are short verses on each page, this makes it great as a quick bedtime read.
